The Wedge Ceramics Studio

The mission is clear: The Wedge Ceramics Studio is a membership based studio seeking to provide a space where independent ceramic artists can work together, sharing knowledge and ideas. We are a studio built of a community of artists based on collective respect and intrigue.

Description

Down to earth, accommodating, patient, and friendly are some of the many characteristics of why Sutter and Samantha Stremmel stand out in the entrepreneur world. Especially when they are making a huge difference in the Community of Reno by opening doors for those who enjoy to work with clay whether they are beginners or are already great artists with lots of experience.

The Wedge Ceramics Studio opened its doors on September 2011. The Stremmels are already going for their third year in business. The Wedge Ceramics Studio happened after graduating from college after they realized that there was no place in Reno to play and throw shapes unless individuals were institutionalized. The Wedge Ceramics is the only public ceramics studio in Reno.

Entrepreneurs such as Sutter and Samantha are making a difference in our community by offering monthly throwing and hand building classes, and some exciting workshops from well-known ceramic artists. Although they are more on the side of an adult studio, they also offer classes for kids. They also do private classes or parties.

The mission is clear: The Wedge Ceramics Studio is a membership based studio seeking to provide a space where independent ceramic artists can work together, sharing knowledge and ideas. “We are a studio built of a community of artists based on collective respect and intrigue. We offer classes and workshops as well for all abilities!”

Even after you know how the Wedge started and do not have an interest or don’t have any experience working with clay, you may check out the open throw for non-members that takes place at 6PM every Wednesday evening.

It only costs $20 and it’s a great way to get to know the studio! The $20 includes the use of recycled clay, wheels, tools and a bisque firing. The fee is waived if you are a student or member at our studio. If you do not have previous experience with clay, there are also workshops and classes where you can sign up.

One more interesting fact about the Wedge is it has a sister business across the street-Sierra Water Gardens. They are also excited to join Dickerson Road’s family of artists. Check out Infinity Forge our blacksmith friend and neighbor.  We look forward to seeing you soon!
