The recession, big corporate business, and the financial industry’s refusal to make small business loans have all contributed to the demise of Reno’s small businesses and the entrepreneurial spirit that had resonated throughout our city and America for so long. We learned this through our own experiences in dealing with banks and repeatedly being denied while attempting to expand our existing businesses or start new ones; however, we were fortunate to have friends and family who believed in us and loaned us the money necessary to pursue our dreams.
Founded in 2003 by Dr. Stephen Tchudi and Dr. Stephen Lafer, members of the faculty of the University of Nevada. The mission of Rainshadow is to show students the power of the knowledge and skills they acquire, and how they can apply them in real world situations to accomplish their goals.
Rainshadow gives a sense of belonging to students so they can participate with enthusiasm and get involved in the community. The campus counts with solar power, a commercial kitchen and the potential to have art shows and performances giving the students the opening to develop skills such as culinary, theater, farming and art. With the student body rising and even having a waiting list, Rainshadow also has opportunities to have recreational sports.
The school is focused on participating with the local community, and has collaborated with the Reno Little Theater, the Holland Project, and the Great Basin Institute among many others over the years.
Founded in October 2006 by Noah Silverman and Kyle Kozar, Reno Bike Project is a non-profit community bicycle shop and advocacy group committed to creating a nationally recognized, cycling-friendly community through advocacy, education, and cooperation in the Truckee Meadows.
RBP has grown from a basement operation to a full cycling community center and advocacy group. They are constantly striving to achieve their mission of getting more people on bikes, and last year alone they distributed over 1,000 bikes back into the community.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
NLCC is a church located on 601 Spokane St. Reno NV across Ramada Casino. The church is a community of people with different backgrounds but with a common desire, to help the community of Reno Nevada.
ABOUT THE PROJECT: After school program
NLCC is making an impact in the community by having an after school program, partnering with Libby Booth Elementary School, to help children with their homework and giving them the opportunity to experience an environment where they can be challenged to become the best of them. Along with a loving team of volunteers who really care about the children. Also many events take place such as giving food pantries away to the community every Sunday to those in need. Also helping the community to be clean by having a cleanup day for our neighborhood where people get involved in the civic life, taking place once a year. And much more…
